1. “Normal Gossip”
Everyone loves a good gossip sesh, and if you don’t, you’re lying. While your friend group and extended mutuals may be running on empty regarding the tea kettle, this podcast has no shortage of hilarious and oftentimes bizarre gossip. Host, Kelsey McKinney, dives into the second-hand gossip submitted by readers and listeners and discusses with guest hosts. Emotions you are guaranteed to experience while listening: laughing uncontrollably, second-hand embarrassment, frustration, second-hand vindication and complete, utter shock.
2. “Scamfluencers”
Scammers are another source of juicy gossip that is fun to hear about, and not so fun to be involved with. So, if you love a good retelling of some of the most insane scams pulled off by influencers in real estate, the art world, amongst psychics and even widely known ballet companies, look no further than Scamfluencers, hosted by Scaachi Koul and Sarah Hagi. With over 100 episodes, you have more than enough content to listen through.
3. “Morbid”
Content warning: If you scare easily, are afraid of the dark and hate true crime, don’t listen to this. But if you tend to eat up good true crime series, especially with theatrics, entertaining storytelling and the occasional sidebar conversation weaved throughout — “Morbid” is for you. Hosted by an aunt (Alaina) and her niece (Ash) who are not too far apart in age (it's complicated), the podcast is as entertaining in content as it is to listen to the two dive into random, semi-related conversations.
4. “Stuff You Missed in History Class”
History nerds, you are seen and you are heard. Anyone with a mild fascination with history knows that middle school and high school history classes have not done a shred of justice to world history. In fact, in North America, many countries are not even discussed, much less given a proper deep dive. “Stuff you Missed in History Class” seeks to do exactly what its title describes — cover all the fascinating historical events and figures you won’t learn about in a general education.
5. “The Bald and the Beautiful With Trixie and Katya”
Depending on the side of TikTok that you are on, you have likely stumbled across the hilarious and out-of-pocket drag queens, Trixie and Katya. According to the podcast description from these two former “RuPaul’s Drag Race” contestants, this podcast features, “a pair of grizzled gay ghouls sitting on chairs, holding microphones and discussing their fabulous lives in Tinseltown.” If that didn’t sell you, I don’t know what will.
6. “Anatomy of a Murder”
Another spookier podcast, except this one may require a strong stomach and objective approach towards horrific crime cases. Former Deputy Sheriff and homicide expert, Scott Weinberger, and legal expert, Anna-Sigga Nicolazzi join forces to discuss the evidence and solving of murder cases. Unlike other “true crime,” podcasts, this one features experts in their respective fields which makes the listen more informative and analytical rather than entirely shocking. Still bone-chilling, yes, but this podcast is deeply fascinating because of its thorough analysis of cases.
7. “The Knowledge Project”
If you want to learn more about the best of the best in their fields, from educators to entrepreneurs and CEOs, this podcast is a one-stop-shop. Shane Parrish, entrepreneur and public speaker, takes care to interview the best thinkers and doers in every field from psychotherapist Esther Perel to neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, all the way to author Daniel Kahneman, to give you invaluable insights and knowledge from those at the top of their field.
8. “You’re Wrong About”
Nobody likes to be wrong, but this podcast makes the things that “you’re wrong about” fun and informative to listen to. Mike and Sarah are two journalists who like to dive into people, events or phenomena that have been widely misunderstood or miscast by the public. From books and movies to celebrities, there’s a healthy selection of topics you can sift through on this podcast.
