1. Frappe - Greece
Shake instant coffee, sugar and cold water together until the mix gets foamy, then pour it over ice and add milk.
2. Dalgona Coffee - South Korea
This trendy coffee had the world in a chokehold for much of 2020. If you haven’t made it before, all you have to do is whip equal parts instant coffee, sugar and hot water until the mix gets fluffy and pale. Then pour it over milk on ice. Pro tip: use a battery-operated frother instead of a whisk.
3. Affogato - Italy
Scoop vanilla gelato into a glass and pour a hot shot of espresso over the top. If you want to make it like the trendy version on social media, score the ice cream into four evenly smoothed sides with a pocket in the middle for your coffee.
4. YuanYang - Honk Kong
Combine strong hot coffee with black tea and sweeten with evaporated or condensed milk. You can make this hot or iced.
5. Café de Olla - Mexico
Brew coffee with a cinnamon stick and a bit of piloncillo or brown sugar. Finish with a dash of cocoa or vanilla for garnish.
6. Irish Coffee - Ireland
Stir hot coffee with brown sugar and a shot of Irish whiskey, then float lightly whipped cream on top without mixing. This is perfect for a weekend cup or after a long, hard day.
7. Cà Phê Sữa Nóng - Vietnam
Mix strong drip coffee or espresso over a spoonful of sweetened condensed milk, then stir until combined. Then of course pour it into a glass with a generous helping of ice.
8. Rudesheim Coffee - Germany
Pour hot coffee into a glass with sugar and a shot of brandy, then top with a generous swirl of whipped cream.
9. Kaffeost - Nordic Countries
Drop cubes of bread cheese (traditionally Finnish leipäjuusto) into a mug and pour hot coffee over them. Let it soak, then you scoop out the cheese with a spoon. This is probably the most adventurous coffee of the list but worth a try.
