With the drop of Taylor Swift's newest album, "The Life of a Showgirl," we not only got an album's worth of brand new tunes, but a new aesthetic era for the songstress, too. For this album, she's harkening back to Vegas showgirls of the 1950s, complete with her signature cat eye liner and warm red lip. We not only found a makeup tutorial to show us how-to, but also got her hands on the list of products she loves. Here's all the details.
"The Life of a Showgirl"
Makeup artist and TikToker Morgan broke down her look into a rather easy-to-follow tutorial. It doesn't capture any specific photo or video, but more like Taylor's go-to beauty routine. Here's how she does it:
"Are you ready for it?"
Of course, you need to start by prepping skin and getting ready for the makeup. Rumor has it that she loves Pat McGrath Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Hydrating Primer. Morgan applies a thin layer of primer to her whole face.
"Shimmer."
There's nothing that Taylor loves more than a good shimmer. Instead of a complex shadow routine, she often wears a sweet of a single wash shimmery shadow over her lids.
Pat McGrath designed the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership X Eyeshadow Palette: Moonlit Seduction for Swift's "Bejeweled" video and she's been known to wear the shades in the palette for other events. Skintense Glow is a great neutral, all-purpose shade.
"Draw the cat eye sharp..."
Taylor is known for her razor-sharp black liquid eyeliner with a cat eye wing. It takes a little practice to nail a neat line, but Morgan shows some of her steady-handed technique here.
According to Taylor's longtime makeup artist Lorrie Turk, Taylor wears Pat McGrath Labs Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner in "Xtreme Black."
Hiding in plain sight.
Next, Morgan goes after spots that need a little extra coverage with a few dabs of concealer and a beauty blender sponge. Taylor likes Yensa Skin On Skin BC Concealer.
"Wake up and smell the breakup, fix my heart, put on my
makeup."
To look flawless like Taylor, Morgan next blends foundation into her whole face. Taylor likes Yensa Super Serum Silk Foundation. Next, Morgan dabs and blends more concealer under her eyes for brightening.
"Red lips and rosy cheeks."
Taylor reportedly gets those rosy cheeks from Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Divine Powder Blush in Divine Rose, but since Taylor's new era has more orange tones, we could see her leaning toward the warmer Desert Orchid shade. Morgan swipes it along the cheek bones and gives an extra dab on the apples.
"Now the sky is opalite."
A little opalite highlighter to the cheekbones adds a much needed glow to the whole look. Taylor likes Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish: Highlighter and Balm Duo, which has both a shimmery highlight and a glossy balm. Morgan uses a small brush to blend.
"Lavender haze."
Taylor's MUA
Lorrie Turk needs to keep her makeup on through sweat, rain and whatever else a concert may bring, so she swears by a professional-strength setting spray like One/Size On 'Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray. Morgan applies a light mist of spray at this point.
"I could feel the mascara run."
Morgan gives a couple of coats of mascara to her lashes. Taylor's been known to use Too Faced Better Than Sex Volumizing Mascara for thick, wispy lashes. Hopefully, this mascara won't run...
"Red lip, classic, thing that you like."
Lorrie Turk shocked the world when she revealed one of Taylor's favorite lip shades was NARS Morocco Lipstick, a cinnamon-tinged red lip. Morgan applies a liner first too, so NARS Precision Lip Liner would be the perfect match.
