1. Laundry Bots
Do we want a robot who will fold clothes? Heck yeah! LG gave
a demonstration of CLOiD, an AI-powered “home robot” that can basically be your
chore monkey around the house. He’s so smart he can even interact with other LG
appliances around the house — the fridge closes itself after CLOid takes out the
milk, for starters. It’s a little slow going, but this type of innovation is a
great start. SwitchBot also has a laundry bot that can wash dishes, serve food and wash windows. SwitchBot will retail this year for $10,000.
2. Personal Chef
The Nosh box is the closest we’ve seen to an AI home chef. Pick
one of 500 recipes, cut up your ingredients, put them in the little boxes and slide
them into the unit when you are ready. The Nosh will season, mix and cook your
food without it burning. Now you can no longer claim you can’t cook. The Nosh
will retail on Kickstarter for $2,400.
3. Desktop Genie
This is like Amazon’s Alexa, but as an action-figure-sized avatar
that sits on your nightstand or desk, Razer's Project Ava will wake you up, alert you to sleep
issues like snoring and even help you get dressed in the morning. At work she’ll
help you stay productive, and even coach you through gaming at night. She can
also be switched to a “he” avatar if you prefer. It’s like your very own
personal genie in a bottle.
4. Next-gen Robot Vac
This scary-looking robot is actually a vacuum that can climb
stairs thanks to four little chainsaw-looking legs. An answer to your upstairs
cleaning prayers or a sleep-paralysis demon in the making?
5. Nails on Demand
You’ve coordinated your makeup with
your outfit but forgot about your nails. No worries, just select the color you
like on the iPolish app, put your nails with iPolish press-ons in the little machine
and bam, the color is updated, no drying necessary. It’s going to retail for $95
and nail refill packs are $24. iPolish is being tight-lipped on how this works,
but it’s most likely electrochemical, according to Engadget.
6. Analog Meets Stereo
Analog audio continues to gain
popularity, especially with Gen Z. This mix of analog and high tech from Victrola brings the
best audio experience to your vinyls. Slide the Soundstage under your turntable
for a full stereo experience. It acts as a Bluetooth speaker that can connect
to either the turntable or another audio source. It even has a woofer for bass
and stereo mode for separation.
7. Smart Bricks
Love it or hate it, Lego now has a
smart brick. It detects motion, light and pressure and scans smart tags on Smart
Lego playset pieces so it can make the appropriate lightsaber noises, engine
roars, flashing lights, etc. It needs charging after 40 minutes of active
play. This could be really cool when paired with the right set, but it does
limit creativity a bit, as it’s not an endless-play sort of piece but a specific
one made for certain functions within sets.
8. Buddy System, Improved
Bird watchers love their camera-enabled BirdBuddies, but BirdBuddy 2 goes further with solar panels for charging
and AI to identify birds by their songs. The seed chamber is bigger, and the
camera got an upgrade too, so you can look at the birdies in better color and
definition. This will retail for $199.
9. Affordable Red Light Therapy
You can stop buying disposable eye
masks with
L'Oréal’s thin silicone, rechargeable LED eye patches. They also have a full-face
mask, which is so much sleeker than typical LED light therapy masks. These
masks are great because they gently improve skin’s texture and pigment without
harsh creams or scrubs. Lastly, they have a new straightener, the Lightstraight
that is fast with infrared tech, which means less fried tresses for you.
10. Gallery-Sized TV
The
Samsung 130-inch Micro RGB TV is a monster — wall sized with
super rich colors and sits in its own stand. If you want your entire wall to be
a screen, it’s your time to shine.
11. Functional Outdoor Power
Use Jackery's Solar Gazebo as an outdoor
gathering space in your backyard. It is sturdy and uses solar panels to recharge
Jackery power stations or run the fan on its ceiling. It even has a projector
screen for outdoor movie night.
12. Quiet Yardwork
I think we can collectively agree
gas-powered leaf blowers are one of the worst outdoor sounds. Tone is going to
correct that with this quiet T1 model that has just 52 decibels of peak noise. It
is pretty powerful, light and can run
for hours on one charge too.
