When a baby in a life boat washes ashore a small island, the lighthouse keepers adopt her as their own. A few years later, they return to the mainland and meet the girl’s possible mother -- which threatens to tear them apart. The couple is played by Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, who developed a real romance during the filming of this steamy period piece. Months on a remote island with nothing but a film crew tends to cause that.
