Her Majesty has spoken.
Two days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle gave an interview to Oprah, in which they accused the royal family of racism and unfair treatment that drove them to step down as working members and ultimately move to California, Buckingham Palace has issued a statement on behalf of the Queen.
The public wasn't sure when -- or if -- the palace was going to issue a statement. According to reports, royal aides were in crisis mode over the past two days, deciding what to do about the comments Meghan and Harry made about the "Institution" and why they decided to leave the U.K.
This statement, although short, speaks volumes about the Queen's position on the matter: she'd prefer it be private rather than public, and that is what it will be.
This was the best possible statement the palace could have issued. It's impossible for the Queen, or any member of Harry's family, to address any part of Sunday's interview without the public reading into anything.
