1. "The Fate of Ophelia" - Elphaba from "Wicked"
Just like the fate of Ophelia from the Shakespearean play “Hamlet,” Elphaba deals with prejudice all the same. In the cases of Ophelia and Elphaba, they are both seen as objects to be used. Elphaba exerts this rare power that others want to manipulate, and by resisting this, the people of Oz depict her as an “evil witch.” “I sit alone in my tower, you were just honing your power” is a line that mirrors Elphaba’s isolation in relation to Glinda’s rise to popularity among the townspeople.
