1. "Play" by Ed Sheeran
After the heavy "Subtract," where Sheeran dealt with the death
of his close friend and his pregnant wife’s cancer diagnosis, he’s doing a full reset with a
lighter album. His Mathematics series is over ("Plus," "Multiply," "Divide," "Equals" and "Subtract") and this album starts the Symbols series with "Pause," "Fast
Forward," "Rewind" and "Stop" already planned. "Azizam" takes listeners to
Persia while "Sapphire" reflects Sheeran’s travels through India. “A Little More”
is the perfect tell-off anthem while "Camera" feels like an epic moment, frozen
in time.

2. "Am I the Drama?" by Cardi B
Cardi B has had a lot going on in her personal life since
her last release, 2018’s “Invasion of Privacy,” including the end of her
marriage to fellow rapper Offset, her romance with NFL player Stefon Diggs and
her news-making pregnancy. She’s back with this new album that addresses the
drama head-on, from the diss track “Pretty & Petty,” to the rapid-fire “Magnet.” She has
lots of collabs too, including tracks with guest spots from Summer Walker,
Selena Gomez, Kehlani, Janet Jackson, Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion. The tracks are messy, kinetic and the steeping hot tea we desire.

3. "I’m Only F–king Myself" by Lola Young
Young burst onto the scene last year with the well-played “Messy,”
but she’s already onto her next album with 14 new equally messy tracks. The
South Londoner is bratty, foul-mouthed, angry and irresistible, singing about
failed relationships, cocaine addiction and self-doubt. “One Thing” is a
standout track so far, but “d£aler” and “Not Like That Anymore” have potential to
be pop hits, too.

4. "Tron: Ares Soundtrack" by Nine Inch Nails
Trent Reznor and bandmate Atticus Ross have been
in the movie soundtrack game for a while, racking up awards, including Oscars
for film scores like “The Social Network" and “Soul.” This time around, for the
third “Tron” film, the duo have billed themselves as their band, famous for tracks
like “Closer” and “Hurt.” The electronic tracks here are pulsing, stripped
down and fun. Reznor sings on the radio-ready “As Alive as You Need Me to Be,”
sounding as NIN as ever. More awards to follow?

5. "Vie" by Doja Cat
In 2023, Doja Cat declared she was done with pop music, as
she felt her own music was “corny.” Fear not, because if the rest of her new
album is anything like her new single, “Jealous Type,” her pop music is here to
stay. At that, the first track is synthy 80s pop, and Jack Antonoff, who
produced the album, probably has more than one retro track up his sleeve.

6. "Here for It All" by Mariah Carey
Carey may be the queen of Christmas, but she’s also
releasing her ninth studio album, her first in seven years. The tracks on the
new album will be a mix of pop, R&B, gospel and hip-hop and will feature collaborations
with Anderson .Paak, Kehlani, and The Clark Sisters. Her first singles, "Sugar
Sweet" (a reggae-infused R&B track) and "Type Dangerous” (with a
classic hip-hop sample) show a return to classic Carey 90s form.

7. "The Life of a Showgirl" by Taylor Swift
“Breaking the internet” is an overused term these days, but
any time Taylor Swift releases a morsel of info about her twelfth studio album,
the crowd goes wild and websites crash. She gave us the most info on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” including a track list and
album cover. Are we going to get anything else before the October 3 drop?

8. "After The Sun Goes Down" by Khalid
Khalid is going for a poppier approach on his fourth studio
album. His first single off the new album, “In Plain Sight,” is upbeat and infectious. This is Khalid’s
first album since he came out as gay and will reportedly explore themes like
love, self-discovery and freedom.

9. "Everyone’s Talking" by All Time Low
All Time Low is still churning out reliable pop punk hits if
the rest of their newest album is anything like their latest singles, “SUCKERPUNCH" and "The Weather." The band has faced some legal issues in
the last few years which some of the tracks reference, but that is behind them
now and they’re ready to rock into a new chapter, energized by last year’s
greatest hits tour. All Time Low may have had some rock-bottom years, but don’t
count them out just yet.

10. "Tycoon" by Ty Dolla $ign
For his sixth studio album, Ty Dolla $ign is looking to
inspiration from the West Coast, including Snoop Dogg and E-40. “All In,” his
first single from the release, is a playful tune with a Caribbean vibe. Dolla
$ign feels like the album is going to be “next level” and that he’s at “the top
of his game.” “You’ll see the growth, the musicality, and it’s going to be
better than anything that’s coming out," he told Billboard.

11. "It’s Not That Deep" by Demi Lovato
Lovato’s albums are often heavy, with her working through
tracks like catharsis. With her ninth album, she’s here to tell us it’s not
that deep this time around. Expect fun, dance club-ready tunes, like the singles “Fast” and “Here
All Night.” Sometimes, girls just want to have fun.
