Day 1: Hooray for Hollywood
Start your vacation by checking into Silverlake Pool and Inn, a relaxed neighborhood boutique hotel with a rooftop pool and quiet, very spacious rooms.
Head to breakfast at the L.A. Farmer's Market for a freshly made treat at one of its numerous bakeries.
Jump to Hollywood for the most iconic spot in L.A., the tourist-heavy TCL Chinese Theater. Take pictures and roam around the
courtyard, looking for your favorite movie star’s paws. Line your hand up with the famous sidewalk handprints and
see whose fingers are longer. You can see a movie while you’re there or continue
down the street to the Walk of Fame, which has a mix of classic and modern
stars nestled into the sidewalk. Walk a few blocks down to the Funko Hollywood store,
which feels like an amusement park with its life sized Funko figures — it’s
about 1 mile back and forth — or drive for less walking.
Next, stop for lunch at Urth Café Melrose, a fresh-food cafe where celebs mix with the common people. Then, it's museum time. There’s something for everyone on Wilshire
Boulevard, all lined up in a row.
The Peterson Automotive Museum is prime for car buffs, and the La Brea Tarpits is a stinky but must-see spot for dinosaur fans. Film buffs should go to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, while art lovers should check out LACMA.
For dinner time, stay in the neighborhood with a quick bite at Guac Daddy Taqueria for authentic street tacos and incredible guacamole, finishing with a unique ice cream cone at Salt N Straw (Salted Grapefruit Coconut Julep anyone?)
