I grew up fairly rustic; my camping days were spent waking up with a sore back in our poorly-constructed tent because my twin-sized air mattress (if I was lucky enough to get an air mattress) deflated overnight. Or I was curled up in the fetal position because the temperature dropped more than expected before the sun came up. Or I was covered with more mosquito bites than I was able to count.
Basically, the trend of RVs and camper trailers outnumbering actual tents wasn’t happening when my family camped, so this new era of glamping is akin to being invited to sleep in the Taj Mahal for me. To break it down: glam + camp = glamp. More and more campsites and getaway retreats are offering this new wave accommodation style for those of us who are over sleeping on the ground and using a heat lamp.
A long weekend is on the horizon, so what better time to try one of these glamping hangouts than for Memorial Day?
