1. Morning Journal Session
To kick off your wellness retreat, you’ll want to start with a morning journaling session. This can help you get any ruminating thoughts out of your mind, and you can spend time considering what you hope to achieve with your DIY wellness retreat. While journaling, enjoy some tea and avocado toast, a yogurt bowl or oats to help get your day started.
2. Silent Meditation
After jotting down any lingering thoughts you may have awoken with, now you can fully relax into a silent meditation session. Close the blinds or curtains if that’s helpful or sit in a sunbeam. Either way, make sure you are comfortable and your space is quiet. If there’s street noise, you can skip the “silent” part and turn on some quiet, instrumental music to help block out the outside noise. Breathe deeply and simply focus on your breath for your chosen amount of time.
3. Late-Morning Yoga
Now that you’ve spent the morning quieting your mind, give your body some TLC with a rejuvenating yoga session. If you’re feeling energetic, opt for vinyasa yoga. If you’re looking to relax, go for a more restorative yoga session.
4. Healthful Lunch
Enjoy a healthy lunch to keep powering you through your at-home wellness retreat. Consider options like salads, brothy soups or veggie-packed sandwiches for this meal.
5. Painting or Drawing
No wellness retreat is complete without some time devoted to pure creativity. Grab whatever art supplies you have nearby — watercolors, acrylic paint, markers or crayons — and some paper or canvas and let your creativity run wild.
6. Afternoon Walk
After unleashing your creativity for an hour or so, keep those brain juices flowing with a nice, long walk. Consider bringing a notepad to jot down any ideas you have while you stroll.
7. Organic Cooking for Dinner
Make yourself a delicious, healthy dinner full of colorful, organic veggies, lean proteins and energizing whole grains. Try a grain bowl, a plant-based wrap or a veggie-loaded stir-fry.
8. Evening Stretches
After your nourishing meal, roll out your yoga mat (or a soft towel or blanket!) and unwind with some calming stretches.
9. Soothing Bath
Fill the tub with warm water and any bath salts, bubbles or bath bombs you may have stashed away. Light a candle, play some quiet music and grab a mug of herbal tea or glass of water to enjoy as you settle into your bath after a long day of tending to your physical and mental wellness.
10. Reading
Before bed, put your mind at ease with some light reading. Now may not be the best time for your thriller and horror books. Instead, consider some soothing poetry or a relaxing fiction book.
