1. Ear Plugs
That ringing you hear in your ears after a show? Not a good sign. Protect your ear health with a pair of ear plugs. My personal favorites are by Loop, which I think are cute as an accessory and don’t disrupt or alter the sound of the music. But find any pair you like and be diligent about wearing them throughout the show.
2. Miniature Hand Sanitizer
Concerts are crowded events, and having a hand sanitizer can give you some peace of mind if the restrooms temporarily run out of soap or you accidentally touch something sticky under your seat.
3. Clear Belt Bags or Purses
For security purposes, many venues now require clear bags of certain sizes. Check the venue’s policies before choosing a bag for the show. I’d recommend a belt bag or crossbody style, so you can relax with a hands-free bag through the night.
4. Foldable, Reusable Bags
Planning on buying show merch? Lugging around your T-shirts, hats and posters can be annoying when you’re trying to sing and dance your heart out. Keep a reusable bag, ideally one that folds into itself or packs down easily, in your pocket or clear bag, then pull it out to hold all your merch.
5. Light Layers
A summertime show with doors at 6 p.m. may not seem like it would require a jacket, but keep in mind that temperatures can quickly drop once the sun goes down. Check the weather around the venue and plan accordingly. Pack a light cardigan or jacket either in your bag or tied around your waist to keep warm later in the evening.
6. Comfortable Shoes
It may be tempting to finish off your concert look with flashy high heels or a brand new pair of shoes, but opt for comfortable shoes that you’ve worn before to shows. Concerts usually last at least a few hours, especially if you arrive early for any opening acts, and uncomfortable shoes can quickly ruin the fun of the night.
7. Miniature Sunscreen
For outdoor shows or festivals, sunscreen is essential. Many popular brands of sunscreen offer travel-sized versions that won’t take up too much space but will offer plenty of product to keep you safe from UV rays throughout the day.
8. Lip Balm
Singing along to your favorite hits may leave your lips feeling dry and chapped. Be sure to keep your favorite hydrating lip balm in your bag or pocket.
9. Hair Ties or Clips
Even if you spent hours styling your hair before the show, you may quickly notice that all that singing and dancing among other fans can raise the temperature. Keep a hair tie or claw clip handy for pulling your hair back and cooling off as you enjoy the concert.
10. Empty Collapsable Water Bottle
Some venues may have restrictions on bringing in reusable water bottles, so always check the venue website before bringing a reusable bottle. An empty, collapsible water bottle is a travel-friendly option that may pass many venues’ guidelines and can help keep you hydrated through the night.
11. Fruit or Granola Bar
Again, check the venue rules before bringing any food, but keeping small, simple snacks handy can help if you’re feeling hungry in the middle of the show.
12. Portable Phone Charger
Keep a portable phone charger handy, as you may need a charged phone to call a ride at the end of the night or get in contact with friends or family to let them know where you are.
