4. “Glee” (2009–2015)
While the show is about a high-school show choir, Sue Sylvester and her Cheerios cheerleading team provide the most drama. The cheerleaders are star members of the Glee club, and have some of the most high-energy performances throughout the series.
5. “Hellcats” (2010–2011)
This early 2010s CW drama highlights how cheer isn’t just a hobby but a worthy avenue to afford a college education. With Disney stars like Aly Michalka and Ashley Tisdale, this show is a perfect mix of soap opera drama and impressive stunting.
6. “Gotta Kick It Up!” (2002)
Starring a young America Ferrera, this movie focuses on the cheer-style dance team finding their rhythm. It’s a heartwarming look at overcoming stereotypes that is sure to have you shouting “Si, se puede!”
7. “Fired Up!” (2009)
This teen comedy is about two football players who go to cheer camp to just meet girls, only to discover that they actually like cheerleading. It’s full of ridiculous tropes and over-the-top humor, making it the perfect light-hearted pick for a movie night.
8. “Stumble” (2025–)
The newest entry to the cheerleading genre, NBC’s “Stumble,” follows a disgraced elite coach rebuilding her career at a junior college. The show stars Jenn Lyon alongside multiple award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth as a recurring guest star. Its mockumentary style makes it a cross between “The Office” and Netflix’s “Cheer.”
