1. Upcycled Old Furniture
You don’t need to invest in a brand new furniture set for a nice outdoor space this summer. All you need is a few cans of spray paint or wood stain and some fabric of your choice or new cushion coverings if you’re not savvy with sewing.
2. Paver Patio
This project costs at most a couple hundred dollars but will last year round and create a patio space in your yard if you don’t already have one. You'll need concrete tiles, some rock, rock glue, wood, paint, soil and whatever plants you want to grow. It’s not the simplest DIY on the list but one that is small money and time investment compared to how long it will last you.
3. Faux Wooden Tiles
Hiring contractors and completely redoing your backyard space can become costly fairly quickly. Instead, invest in these wooden snap-in-place Runnen tiles from Ikea that’ll quickly and easily transform your patio space without the need to hire anyone or measure anything.
4. Jasmine Trelice
This DIY is a bit of a time investment in terms of seeing its full potential. All you need is wire, a secure way to tie it to the side of your house and jasmine vines. Create whatever pattern you want them to follow as they climb and in just a year or two they’ll reach full maturation — beautifying your outdoor space and making it smell divine. In the meantime, the vines will add some more greenery, elevating your space.
5. Table Top Fireplace
No fire pit? No problem. With a ceramic planter bowl of your choosing, some rocks and a mini table torch — you can create an aesthetic, cozy little fireplace for your backyard table.
6. String Light Planters
Get any planters of your choosing, concrete, a couple $8 tree stakes, PVC bases, eye hooks, any flowers you fancy and of course, some string lights, and you will have created an elevated, cozy outdoor space to host or enjoy for yourself all summer long.
