Just sayin’ -- we called it.
At the close of the London leg of their On the Run II tour last night, Beyoncé and Jay-Z surprised attendees with a special message about the release of their new album, “Everything Is Love,” and people are excited.
This, of course, isn’t the first time Queen Bey has “shocked” us all. Her “Beyoncé” album was dropped unexpectedly in 2013, and “Lemonade” just about killed the internet.
After “Lemonade,” which seemed like a tell-all about Jay-Z’s infidelity, Mr. Carter then released “4:44,” an album with a similar tone. Now, we have “Everything Is Love,” which from a first listen sounds like a renewing of vows via music for the couple (who reportedly actually renewed their vows back in April).
At least, that’s what I would say if I could actually listen to the tracks, which are streaming exclusively on Tidal, a paid subscription service that is popular among artists like Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West. It’s also the home of "4:44" and "Lemonade."
Fans of the duo are running into the same problem: to subscribe or not subscribe? The answer: creativity is key.
I guess I’ll just get my fix from the video they casually made in the Lourve.
[UPDATE 6/18/18 9:10 A.M.]
Turns out some sly fans figured out that the album is on Spotify -- but the even sneakier Jay and Bey put it under the artist name "The Carters." Happy listening, friends!
