Kwan explained it so ridiculously that seeing a plane like that on screen would have been a hoot. Similarly, Eddie Cheng’s childhood friend Leo Ming showed him his fancy new closet in the beginning of the novel, a closet that <i>remembered the outfits he’d worn in the past and when</i>. To avoid repeating an outfit in front of the wrong crowd, of course. His blasé demeanor and obvious out of sight, out of mind attitude would have made a good juxtaposition to the chaos of the Young family. He was a chum in the novel with quotes like, “Doesn’t everybody’s family ultimately originate from Mainland China? Where would you rather her be from? This, in turn, sparked a whole <i>thing</i> among the Young family that was storytelling gold.
