It’s judgment day: Hollywood is abuzz with talk of this year’s Met Gala, where tonight A-listers worthy of Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s acknowledgement will reunite at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in their shiniest threads.
Some celebs cherish this event and the excuse to wear a one-of-a-kind outfit -- I probably would too if I got to dress up like them.
But it’s no secret that others have grown tired of the social trials that surround it. Between wondering who will and won’t be invited and doing their best to fit the fashion theme (this year’s is “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,” so that’s a thing), stars have expressed their blatant distaste for the gala.
Amy Schumer has called it a “punishment.” Tina Fey thinks it’s a “jerk parade.” And Gwyneth Paltrow, in probably the worst diss to date, said it was “so un-fun.”
Beyoncé is reportedly not even showing up this year, instead jet-setting on a surprise trip that husband Jay-Z organized for the two of them to relax before the onset of their On the Run II tour next month.
Maybe it’s for the best, though. We all know what happened in that elevator when Bey and Jay were at the Met together a few years ago.
