In short, it’s epic
Based on a four-part books series commonly known as the
Neapolitan Novels, this story spans the lives of two Italian women, from their
childhood to their old age. But it’s not just about these girls: it’s also about
their whole community, from local mobsters to school friends, spouses,
children and extended family. There are over 50 characters to keep track of
just within the town (the books offer a helpful family tree so it will be interesting
to see how it’s handled on screen).
The books are being adapted by HBO into a (hopefully) 32-episode
series, covering all the books. It’s an immersive world filled with highs and lows, beauty and ugliness and
characters you will become invested in.
