Over in Iceland, the Geldingadalur volcano has been continuously erupting since late last week, drawing Reykjavík residents and Icelandic out-of-towners alike to gawk at the spill of lava at its base. The volcano is in a unique position in that a nearby plateau enables visitors to get a good vantage point of the peak without getting dangerously close; even so, some tour guides and adrenaline junkies are testing like the limits, like Sveinn Snorri Sighvatsson, who decided to have a nude photoshoot on the edge of the lava flow.
If side-stepping boiling hot magma isn't your thing, but volcanos still set off the enthusiastic science fair kid in you, not to worry -- there are still plenty of active volcanos you can visit for a (safe) crater close-up.
