Whether you use plastic sandwich bags to split up your chicken breast for meal prep-ready portions or can't survive the workday without a baggie of Cheez-Itz waiting at the bottom of your purse, you're likely going through a lot of plastic. Try reusable storage bags, like these, that can handle everything from raw chicken to munchies.
A good skin care routine can, unfortunately, come with a price. You usually need some kind of catalyst to apply your products to your face, and if you're toning in the morning and micellar water-ing at night, that's a lot of cotton rounds (or tissues, or some other paper product, most likely) in the trash. You can at least swap to these reusable ones.
Even though they say not to use q-tips to clean your ears, we're all still doing it. But those little plastic sticks can fill up landfills. Try bamboo versions, instead, which are more biodegradable and come with organic cotton tips.
When you think about how many of these we use in just a week...wow. Though options like the DivaCup are appealing for some eco-friendly enthusiasts, they can be a little daunting. We're simply suggesting you invest in brands that do their best to use safe, hygienic and natural materials in their products, like Freda or DAME.
If you have clumsy kids who get a lot of boo-boos, you probably can't lose from switching to eco-friendly band-aids. Sure, they won't have Mickey Mouse on them, but they'll grow out of that.
...not the kind you bring home from the restaurant. If you take your dog out for walks, it's likely you use a few poop bags every day, but there are eco-friendly versions of those, too! Look for either compostable bags (your best option), or bags that are oxo-biodegradable, meaning they're more likely to break down in a shorter, two-year timeframe.
Oh yeah, we're making our trash less trashy. Whatever you must throw out, do so in one of these compostable, biodegradable bags. Can't get friendlier than that.
Your morning pot is costing the environment! This is an easy-as-pie switch, as these compostable alternatives are unbleached and chlorine-free, meaning they're better for you, too. They look and feel pretty much the same as your typical filters and likely won't alter the taste of your cup o' joe, either.
