This week, The Washington Post reported that President Trump has a fake cover of TIME magazine featuring himself hanging in at least five of his golf clubs across the world. Dated March 1, 2009, the cover in question shows a menacing Trump from his pre-presidential days. With arms crossed, the real estate mogul-turned-celebrity is flanked by headlines proclaiming, "Donald Trump: The 'Apprentice' is a television smash!," "Obama's Next Move: Can He Curb Health-Care Costs" and "Global Warming: A New Age of Extinction."
While the headline about Obama actually did appear on the cover of a Time magazine, the rest are made up (and the irony of the global warming one is so real it hurts). A joke cover isn't typically something to freak out over, but considering the president is notorious for accusing the media of being "fake news" ever since he announced his candidacy, Time has decided to fight back on this particular fake cover.
"I can confirm that this is not a real TIME cover," Time Inc. spokeswoman Kerri Chyka told The Post.
The magazine even went so far as to formally request that the Trump Organization remove the questionable covers from the clubs. The Trump Organization and the White House have yet to comment on the issue, but Twitter sure has a lot to say about it.
