Travel Tuesday: 7 Things to Do on New Year’s Eve in New York Besides Times Square

If I ever go against my word, I’ll ever deny writing this, but you will never catch me in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Not having access to a bathroom, comfortable seat or warmth for an extended period of time sounds less fun than a root canal, and the chances you can even get close enough to the Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve stage (and, more importantly, Ryan Seacrest) to make it worth it is way too slim for me to take a chance. And I picture getting a hotel room that overlooks the festivities is akin to the Hunger Games. But the Big Apple is still a viable choice to ring in the new year -- just stay away from those few blocks!
