“You know those days when you get the mean reds?...Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away.”
So said Holly Golightly, and boy would she be excited to see Tiffany & Co.’s latest installment -- Tiffany blue NYC taxis from today until Friday.
As a way to promote Chief Artistic Officer Reed Krakoff’s first collection, “Paper Flowers,” the jewelry brand is sprinkling a bit of blue throughout Manhattan, complete with blue subway stairs and a splash of color on MetroCards. Shops from Prince Street to 57th Street will even be decorated with handmade paper flowers.
“Paper Flowers” is Krakoff’s way of providing a sense of extravagance for the everyday New York commuter, to note the trademark Golightly essence of “the juxtaposition of wearing a floor length gown and a tiara while holding a paper bag with coffee and a pastry. The idea that luxury doesn’t have to be formal,” he told Vogue.
Tiffany’s has also been verifiably cryptic on social media, posting in upside-down text and alluding to an exciting announcement on Thursday.
Excuse me while I re-watch "Breakfast at Tiffany's" while I contemplate what they could be up to.
