Are Thrillers More Believable Than Rom-Coms?

We're an entertainment-oriented society. Movies make up a lot of our discourse, and they're popular in part because they tend to be a break from the mundane reality of your normal life. Of course, some on-screen stories are more plausible than others, but for the most part they're not entirely believable -- and we're cool with that! Thrillers and rom-coms, in particular, always have a sort of phony veil around them -- like, "Gone Girl" and "Hitch" aren't authentic depictions of real life.
