Graduation season is a combination of bittersweet happiness and celebration with a dash of stress -- for both the graduate and those close to them.
I’ve just celebrated my only sister’s high school graduation, a commencement from the same high school I graduated from. During the hour-and-a-half waiting period and then subsequent two-hour ceremony, I had a bit of time to reflect on what it’s like to be the plus-one at a graduation.
Naturally, if you’re a graduate yourself, commencement day is full of butterflies and excitement, and you’re too distracted to really notice anything else going on around you. Being in the stands, though? Whole different experience.
Here are five things that ran through my mind as I waited to watch my baby sister get her diploma.
