1. Sam and Diane, “Cheers”
We have to include the
original will they / won’t the couple, given that Sam and Diane invented the painful concept. The
bar owner and waitress alternated between making out and verbally sparring, which ultimately led to a whole lot of nothing when Shelley Long departed the show. Sam then
tried to have another push-and-pull relationship with Rebecca, but they
fizzled, and we realized that Sam and Diane were lightening in a bottle. We
just wish the series could have put a cork in it at some point.
