The more that is revealed about the upcoming season of "The Crown," the more I dread it. Why? Because it's based on a true story and every knows how it ends.
The latest trailer for one of Netflix's most popular series was released today, showing the tense relationship between Her Majesty and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (played flawlessly by "The X-Files" star Gillian Anderson).
Theirs was an awkward relationship at first, since the Queen always had male prime ministers. But as British journalist Andrew Marr observed, "the Queen always saw the point of Margaret Thatcher. She understood that she was necessary.”
Another part of the trailer that was -- for lack of a better term -- heartbreaking to watch was the relationship between Charles and Diana. Almost everyone can agree that these two should never have married. Since he was heir to the throne and was therefore obligated to produce heirs, Charles felt pressure from different people in his life to make a commitment. He was given bad advice and made the hasty decision to marry Diana.
And while the marriage produced two boys that secured the monarchy's future, it also saw adultery committed by both parties, anger and resentment that affected their children and the airing of dirty laundry that is still talked about to this day. And while it is reported that Charles and Diana were on good terms in the months before her untimely death, the ending is a devastating one that no one saw coming.
Season 4 of "The Crown" debuts Nov. 15 on Netflix.
