How Are the Stars of "The Bold Type" Standing up for Diversity?

Freeform's "The Bold Type" follows three 20-somethings living in New York City and working at a top-tier women's magazine. Aisha Dee, who plays Kat Edison, a queer, bi-racial social media manager-turned-bartender, penned an open letter to Freeform and Universal TV as a whole about representation and diversity on the show. Dee used her words to point out how the boundary-pushing, conversation-starting subject matter of "The Bold Type" is not appropriately reflected behind the camera and to suggest areas where more voices could be heard. "This is an opportunity to walk the walk, to really practice the things 'The Bold Type' teaches, by acknowledging mistakes and making commitments to be better in the future," she wrote.
