After trying out a few unfortunate amateur acting roles (I think we can all agree that "Valentine's Day" is not a good movie), Taylor Swift has been casted in the film adaptation of "Cats," an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical based on a book of poems by T. S. Eliot. Jennifer Hudson, James Corden and Ian McKellen have also signed on.
Filming is set to begin in England this November, which is super ambitious of Swift since her Reputation tour isn't scheduled to finish up until Nov. 21 in Tokyo. That hasn't stopped her from being nice and extra about the announcement though -- she stepped out in New York today wearing a very "Cats"-like ensemble and very sneakily released a merch line completely dedicated to her cats.
It's got earrings, it's got makeup bags, it's got T-shirts. Fans are in awe.
But I do think we're missing the bigger picture here. Swift's cats -- named after Meredith Grey of "Grey's Anatomy" and Sergeant Olivia Benson of "Law and Order: SVU" -- are the real scene-stealers. Swift will probably do a decent job in a musical that was basically made for her, but there are plenty of times that prove Meredith and Olivia are the true performers here.
