Should We All Float on...in Rented Strangers' Pools?

Guys, it's hot. Too hot. France and Italy are literally melting, and the rest of us are trying to prevent our bodies from going into shock while hopping between thick, 90-degree humidity and ice-cold office air conditioning. The city life is tough this time of year, when the majority of us don't have cars and the closest strip of beach is an hour away; we're left wondering why we choose to live amongst the skyscrapers instead of in the suburbs, after all. A new initiative has popped up, though, in an attempt to combat these woes: Swimply gives homeowners pool owners the opportunity to rent out their backyard swimming pools for hourly rates, similar to Airbnb for houses or Getaround for cars. Apartment dwellers can take advantage of local, private watering holes for afternoon dips, and suburbanites can jump in on some extra income to combat their summertime electric bills.
