We know that “Stranger Things” has been filming since April with some new cast members alongside all of our favorites, and we’ve gotten our fix from a few social media appearances, but this new teaser is just what the doctor ordered.
The video is less a teaser than an actual commercial circa 1985, advertising the new mall that’s opening up in Hawkins, Ind. The only real peek at the cast that we get is a quick few seconds of Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) and newcomer Maya Hawke, who’ll be playing Robin in the upcoming season.
Interesting. This leads me to believe that Steve, heartbroken over ex-girlfriend Nancy (Natalia Dyer) getting together with Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), may start hooking up with his coworker.
I guess it’d be nice to see Steve step away from his babysitting duties and actually find a nice girl, but we’ll see.
“Stranger Things” has been set in the ‘80s since its start, but this teaser could be plucked straight from a television set for how accurate it is. The costumes are spot on. The big hair, the Walkmans...at least we know that when season 3 begins, we’ll be able to see that they pulled out all the stops to transport the audience to 1985 sci-fi Indiana.
Most people are embarrassed to admit when they don’t understand modern references -- I, however, am embarrassed to admit that I’m too young to know what half these places are. That's how good it is.
I don’t know what Sam Goody sells. I didn’t know there was a place called Wicks ‘n’ Sticks. Maybe I don’t deserve to watch this show. (I do recognize Claire’s, though. Claire’s is the best.)
In any case, “Stranger Things” knows timing: Emmy nominations were just announced, with the Netflix original racking up 10 mentions, including for Outstanding Drama Series and acting noms for David Harbour (Hopper) and Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven).
