For Christmas one year I bought my father a Squirrel Buster to keep squirrels away from his bird feeder. I've never seen such joy in someone's eyes when he learned what he unwrapped, but then I remembered the torture my father endured trying to keep those fancy rats from "stealing from the birdies" (his words, not mine).
You can imagine, then, the empathy I felt for Twitter user @christinaroto's mom when she greased up the pole of her bird feeder to keep the squirrels away.
Mom managed to capture footage of the squirrel's failure to climb the pole, and all I heard was Donna Summer singing something about treating a woman right 'cause she works hard for the money.
Someday soon, the squirrels will figure out a way to best us (again), but until then, I just hope this particular squirrel makes enough money dancing to put her kid through college.
