No matter your political affiliation, I think we can all agree that the 2016 presidential election was a bit of a shit show. Trump's wall, Clinton's emails -- the election was six months ago and we are still talking about these controversies as if the election is happing right now. Spoiler alert: Trump won and well, that's that. Perhaps we should all just take a second to look back on the events of 2016 and laugh a little, shall we?
The folks over at Ganglebot Films are doing just that with their video short "#Unpresidented, A Trump Grade School Play from the Future." The video spoofs what a grade school play in the future could look like, when our children inevitably look back on this garbage fire of an election season. The kids in the video look scarily similar to the key players in Washington today and use real quotes from the presidential race. Oh, and the entire thing is moderated by baby Abe Lincoln, which makes it that much better.
"The 2016 election was messy," the video description states. "Children were exposed to profanity by Donald Trump and others, the news had to cover stories about sexual assault and p**** grabbing. This short takes a look at what kids saw and may remember about the election. While this comedy is clearly parody, many of the lines and scenarios are true."
It continues, "Regardless of what side of the aisle you're on hopefully we can all come together and unanimously say that the 2016 election was silly and our children could benefit from a boring and profanity-less 2020 election!"
You'll notice that there is quite a bit of swearing in the video (no surprise here), but the filmmakers were sure to mention that "no kids actually cussed in the making of this short." Phew, what a relief considering the content matter at hand. I'm sure swearing is what we should be most worried about.
I recommend watching the video below at least four times to guarantee you catch all of the fantastic references that are made (like Trump's tweet about Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the background of the presidential debate). Brb, still laughing.
