Our favorite “Jersey Shore” girl, the very pregnant Nicole
"Snooki" Polizzi, recently took her kids on a magical family vacation
to Walt Disney World. But when she and
husband Jionni rolled up with Lorenzo, 6, and Giovanna, 4, in strollers, the
judgey moms of the internet came for them.
In the cute pic Snooki posted to Instagram, both kids are
dolled up like their favorite Disney characters: Elsa from "Frozen" for Giovanna and a
pirate for Lorenzo, along with some matching friends. But people were too
distracted by the fact that the non-toddlers were getting wheeled around the
park by their parents. Rude comments followed like “Do the children walk or...”
and “Your kid to [sic] old to be on a stroller!”
Of course, Snooki knows how to handle herself. "They
walk!" she responded. "But in large crowds I prefer they sit their *sses down. Saves me the stress of not losing my offspring."
Many also came to her defense. “I live in Florida and have worked
at and visit Disney every year,” wrote one commenter, whose grammar we'll forgive. “Those children are NOT too
old for strollers trust me that is Alot of walking alot of standing and waiting
kids get agitated if you rather your children be uncomfortable that's is on you
but leave them alone her kids look very happy and safe I was just there couple
weeks ago and the crowd was busy keeping them in that stroller is safe and
helps gets them thru the traffic not to mention they can look at everything and
enjoy it while being pushed...HATERS.”
Yes, in the normal world, maybe 4 years old (if not certainly 6) is
probably old for a stroller, but I am here to tell you that in Disney, it's NOT. I have done Disney with kids when my
sons were 4 and 6, and its exhausting. It’s a sh*t ton of walking. Magic
Kingdom alone is 142 acres of land. I stupidly only rented one stroller for my “I’m
too tired” 4-year-old and spent the rest of the week listening to him argue
with his brother about whose turn it was.
If I could have fit in the stroller, I
would have taken a turn myself.
Letting your kid rest and recharge in between rides is
probably the only thing standing between you and a meltdown. And, as Snooki
said, it keeps them safe in huge crowds. Plus, you have somewhere to put all
the crap you've accumulated throughout the day, like plastic lightsabers and
half-eaten Mickey rice krispie treats.
At Disney, it’s actually very normal to see bigger kids
pushed around by their parents. When they're ready to walk, they do. But, at
the end of the day, it’s really no one’s business how you and your children get
around. That never stops the internet from giving unsolicited opinions, though.
Lastly, can we give a preggo girl a break? She’s seven months
pregnant and hitting Disney (her second son is due around the end of May), so
that deserves a round of applause. Another commenter caught a glimpse of the
family at Epcot and remarked, “Lorenzo was
yelling at you to walk faster 🤣
Also, being pregnant at Disney is no joke!” See? Maybe it looks like Snooki
could use a turn in the stroller, too.
