Everyone's favorite ogre has been deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant by the Library of Congress! The federal cultural institution announced that "Shrek" will be preserved under the National Film Preservation Act, finally receiving the recognition it deserves. The irreverent 2001 animated movie, which featured Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz in voice-acting roles, is known for its humor and fire soundtrack. It won the first ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and spawned three sequels, a spin-off and a stage musical. "Shrek" joins "The Dark Knight," "Grease," "A Clockwork Orange" and other iconic films inducted into the National Film Registry this year.
