Ever since Netflix announced way back in 2014 that it was working on an adaptation of "A Series of Unfortunate Events," we've been on the edge of our seats waiting for more details. The macabre children's book series was like the dark, sarcastic answer to Harry Potter. And while the wizards got amazing movies right off the bat, Lemony Snicket's 13-book story about the Baudelaire orphans fell victim to a less-than-stellar film adaptation.
So what's up with Count Olaf and the Baudelaire siblings? Netflix's take on the grim tale of the orphaned siblings finally has a concrete release date.
This is amazing news for a few reasons: 1) Netflix has a proven track record for producing great series 2) the new adaptation stars Neil Patrick Harris, who is basically perfect and 3) the first official trailer for the series perfectly nails Lemony Snicket's unique style.
To be honest, we don't know much more about the adaptation after watching the trailer. The entire project is shrouded in mystery, just like Lemony Snicket himself. The one thing we do know, though, is that it's coming to Netflix January 13, 2017. That's enough to tide us over for now.
