The feud between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has been going on for years now -- it’s unclear how the two Marvel actors started coming at each other’s throats, but we know one thing: It’s just as entertaining as their movies.
The best jabs seem to start in 2015, when Reynolds started promo work for “Deadpool” -- like this Instagram post, where “Hugh Jackman” was encouraging everyone to vote for People’s Sexist Man Alive...in full Deadpool post-chemical explosion makeup. (Jackman was deemed sexiest in 2008 and Reynolds in 2010, don't forget.)
A year later, Jackman posed as Reynolds to encourage people to “urinate on my section of the sidewalk” along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where Reynolds had just attended his own star ceremony.
There’s been even more back-and-forth, way too much to fit into one article, but just know this: The jibes are getting better with age.
Yesterday, Reynolds tweeted out a mock campaign video, telling “voters” that if they’re going to root for a foreign actor’s film at next year’s Academy Awards, make it the Canadian and not the...er...Michigander?
Naturally, Jackman followed up:
In case you have no idea what Reynolds is talking about, Jackman’s new film, "The Front Runner," is due in theaters on Nov. 21. The film is a biographical drama about Gary Hart, a Colorado senator who was campaigning for the 1988 Democratic presidency until dropping out due to rumors of an affair. Jackman plays Hart in the film, and even though neither this film nor “Deadpool 2” are really on the road for “Best Picture” nominations, apparently voters needed to be thwarted from Jackman’s latest.
Although, who knows? Maybe Jackman is going for the gold. I mean, talk about a flexible actor. He did the superhero thing with all the “X-Men” films, showed off his chops in “The Greatest Showman” and now he’s doing a drama -- the guy knows how to show off his versatility, that’s for sure.
Until next tweet, fellas!
