Every cinematic period has its go-to horror movie trope. It could be vampires, the devil, aliens, haunted houses or zombies. Right now, we seem to be running with the evil clown trope, both on film and in real life. First, there was that weird trend of creepy clown sightings all over the U.S. Then, there was 2017's hit horror film "IT," which featured Pennywise the undead clown.
Now, the trend has arguably reached peak WTF-ery as a gang of roving Ronald McDonalds was recently spotted harassing people in a Burger King. The strange scene played out on Sept. 23 when 15 people dressed as the iconic McDonald's clown walked into the rival fast food chain in Somerset, England. There was even a Hamburglar in tow, because why the heck not?
The rowdy clowns were chanting "You're sh*t and you know you are," as confused customers looked on. The BK employees, on the other hand, weren't quite as confused. Apparently, this is a running tradition in the town.
"We see the group every year and they're always up for a laugh," someone named Nici told the Metro. "The whole restaurant was laughing along with them, including the cashiers."
Glad to hear that quaint, old time-y traditions like potlucks and whittling have been replaced by a yearly outing of creepy clowns on the town. How precious!
