You know how all you want to do at the end of the day is go home and take your pants off? Instead, think about going home and squeezing into some spandex and then running for an hour...
I've been running for most of my life -- away from coaches, parents, responsibilities and relationships. Right now, I'm training for a half marathon and man, it's tough. Not only is it a mind game, but the time I have to dedicate to running each week feels ridiculous.
The guide I'm following has me running three times during the week (three miles, five miles, three miles). On Sundays I'm told to run anywhere from nine to 12 miles. I try to pace myself with eight-to-nine minute miles. Breaking it down looks something like this:
- 5k or 3.1 miles = About 27 minutes
- 10k or 6.2 miles = About 54 minutes
- 15k or 9.3 miles= About 85 minutes
This means that every week I run for about 226 minutes. That's A LOT of GD minutes to spend laced up, running around my neighborhood. I have shit I'd rather be doing, like re-watching "Game of Thrones" for the third time or eating my weight in pizza. Basically what I'm saying is running is hard and there are many mind games I have to play to get through it...
