When will the madness end?
As if you needed yet another reminder that today is the first day of fall, let me give you one big, greasy one -- pumpkin spice pizza is officially a thing. I know...gross, right? And yet, I am intrigued.
Sure, normally pumpkin spice flavor is reserved for sweet things like donuts, cookies and obviously, lattes. But the pizza chain Villa Italian Kitchen begs to differ, and has dedicated a day to providing the world with something we never asked for but will probably try anyways. And so, the pumpkin spice pizza was born.
Unfortunately, we have no idea what this PSL pizza would actually taste like. Villa Italian Kitchen vaguely described the pie as "classic Villa Italian Kitchen cheese pizza and all the cozy, seasonal flavors of fall," but that could mean just about anything.
According to the food chain's press release, the ingredients will include "regular pizza crust, a sauce layer of pumpkin puree (featuring nutmeg, clove and cinnamon), then 100 percent whole milk mozzarella cheese topped with dollops of more puree."
Talk about fall in your mouth, am I right?
“There’s no denying that everyone loves pizza, so combining our hit Neapolitan Cheese Slice with the delicious fall flavors of pumpkin spice just made sense,” said spokeswoman Mimi Wunderlich told Access Atlanta.
The festive pizza will be available Sept. 22 only while supplies last.
