Anyone with a smartphone these days can tell you that the most significant part of a proposal is not the promise of committing to someone for the rest of your life, no -- it's capturing the moment. And, more importantly, capturing the ring.
To be fair, proposers usually put a lot of thought and effort into making the proposee's engagement day a memorable one. It takes a lot of planning, a lot of gusto and even more courage -- this is your future spouse, you know?
All of that being said, everyone knows the cardinal rule of proposing to a woman: Make sure she has her nails done. There will be photos, there will be friends and family cooing over her ring, there will be a significant amount of attention paid to her hands on this momentous day. It doesn't matter how you do it, but ensuring that your lady has had a manicure in the week (and no more than a week, don't make me pass out) before the proposal is imperative.
This future husband apparently did not get the memo. Luckily, his newly-betrothed's cousin Jenna was at the ready.
The guy did great with the rest of the presentation: In the photos, the couple is surrounded by a big bouquet of flowers, obnoxiously large balloons and, obviously, family was present. Nevertheless, Jenna had to step in with her brand-new red manicure to get those necessary photos. Because they were necessary -- do you see that ring?
I'm sure Jenna was just tickled that she happened to wear the same size ring as her cousin. What woman wouldn't want to model that rock on her finger?
Jenna's followers not only understood the gravity of her rescue mission, but they applauded her for it. She's a family hero now.
Moral of the story: Consult with your soon-to-be fiancé's family before any proposal. You just might miss an important detail.
