Tabloids L-O-V-E putting kooky stuff on their covers, especially when the kooky stuff is 100% false. Is Jennifer Aniston pregnant? Sure! Did Scott Disick bed every single Kardashian? Totally! One topic weeklies never tire of covering is the royal family. Whether it's about the Duchess of Cambridge and her womb or who's fighting over the throne, there is never a shortage of outlandish stories to be printed.
For what may be the third time in a year, OK! Magazine claims that Queen Elizabeth II is abdicating the throne in favor of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Wait, there's more! At their coronation, William and Catherine plan to honor Princess Diana, because everyone knows that any good coronation includes an "In Memorium" montage. If you weren't convinced by the copy on the cover, OK! slapped a gold sticker that reads "Palace Confirms" to assure readers that it's all real.
"At 90, Queen Elizabeth has finally decided to give up the crown. But in a surprise move, she's planning to pass it straight to Prince William!" a source told OK!. Her Majesty will probably "step down from the throne early next year" and make the "extraordinary" move of skipping over her son (and rightful heir) Prince Charles in favor of William.
"No one was more shocked than William and Kate. They didn't think they'd become king and queen for another 30 years."
The coronation "is to be held next summer at Westminster Abbey" and will cost "nearly $100 million" to put on. "Everyone from President Obama to the Pope, as well as a smatter of celebrities" including Angelina Jolie, Elton John, and David and Victoria Beckham.
