In a landmark step against climate change and toward eco-friendly contribution, 32 private-sector companies (encompassing about 150 brands) signed the G7 Fashion Pact last week, headed by French President Emmanuel Macron. According to the Pact, these big-name brands, which range from luxury, activewear and fast fashion companies, vow to do what they can to reduce the environmental impact of the global fashion industry, including things like switching to renewable energy sources, eliminating single-use plastics and promoting the use of recycled textiles.
The Pact is the first of its kind, so obviously we're elated to see that popular designers, companies and brands like Stella McCartney, Tapestry, Gucci, Michael Kors and Gap are in on it. One of the most accessible brands out there, Nordstrom, has also signed on -- and subsequently released a new Sustainable Style collection, which offers products that are created from sustainably-sourced materials and made in factories with higher standards, according to the store -- there's even a section that donates proceeds to environmental organizations. Are you on board the eco-friendly express? See which items from the collection you gravitate toward.
