1. Nuremburg
Nuremburg hosts one of the best of all the Christmas markets in
the country (and there are lots), called Christkindlesmarkt. In addition to over 100 huts that sell high-quality, handmade toys and holiday
goods are food stands to eat and drink your way through. Must-haves include sausage
(bratwurst), gingerbread (Lebkuchen) and mulled wine
(gluwein).
Children can visit with Christkind, a Christmas angel who is
the gift-giver of the season and kicks opens the market for the season with a
Ceremony and Prologue. There is also a two-story carousel in the Children’s
Market.
Also in Nuremburg is a Toy Museum, one of the largest in the world, showcasing the history of toys from
antiquity to present day.
