How to Ruin "E.T." 101: Make the sequel a horror movie.
Thankfully, the movie never got made, but just knowing there’s an outline for a script out there keeps us up at night. Director Steven Spielberg and "E.T." writer
Melissa Mathison pitched a sequel where a ship full of hungry, man-eating
aliens arrive in response to E.T.’s help signal and kidnap Elliot and his siblings.
Luckily, E.T. comes back to save them all, but it sounds horrifying in the
meantime considering the small part in the original movie with the scientist
was scary enough.
