Did you attend a state fair this summer? Are state fairs even a thing where you live? If not, allow me to welcome you to the Minnesota State Fair, happening now through Labor Day in St. Paul. Among the horse, dog and auto shows, flea markets, 5k and even an Oktoberfest celebration, the Great Minnesota Get-Together features a llama costume contest.
Technically, it's a lama costume contest -- this spelling refers to the genus that includes both llamas and alpacas, and yes, there is a difference -- but the most important thing for you to know is that llamas, alpacas and their handlers coordinate costumes that are voted on by judges. And it's pretty magnificent.
Luckily, Minnesota immigration attorney Kara Lynum was in attendance and live-tweeted the whole thing for us.
