If ever you need a dose of good vibes, just head on over to Matthew McConaughey's Instagram. The man leads a soulful, family-oriented life, and I always come away awash in contentedness. There isn't much McConaughey can't do: As an Academy Award-winning actor, he's equally engaging as a rom-com lead as he is a drama star; he carves young minds using his 50 years of wisdom as a professor at the University of Texas at Austin; and now he's adding "author" to his long resume. "Greenlights," a compilation of 35 years' worth of McConaughey's diary entries, made up of insightful musings and emotional responses to his life's greatest blessings and challenges so far, is out today.
McConaughey has been running tons of self promo on his Instagram since announcing the memoir's publication, and every time he posts, it's like I can feel my blood pressure automatically lowering.
What's been most calming about the "Greenlights" build-up, though, is the snippets of text that McConaughey will read aloud and post as a video. Each shared excerpt is the preview of an audiobook that we need...immediately.
The good news is that that buttery, velvet Texas drawl is ready and waiting for you to enjoy. McConaughey recorded "Greenlights" prior to publication so that we could get in on the audiobook at the same time as the print version, obviously anticipating his fan base's preferences. Also of note: The audiobook version is, right now, actually pricier than the hardcover (on Amazon, at least). This man's voice is worth millions.
So, if you need me, I'll be falling asleep to the sweet, sweet sound of Matthew McConaughey telling me all about the trials and tribulations of this thing called life.
