The time has come, everyone! The third season of “This Is Us” will premiere tonight on NBC.
Ever since the earth-shattering episode last season where we lost patriarch Jack Pearson in a house fire (this doesn’t count as a spoiler anymore, educate yourselves) and the teaser scenes showed a jump to the future, we’ve been anticipating the tear-jerky new episodes like a puppy waiting for his human to come home.
As part of the new season’s promo, Mandy Moore (Rebecca Pearson in the show) was a guest on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where she was put to the test by Fallon on her knowledge of gut-wrenching quotes from both “This Is Us” and her role when she was a 16-year-old in “A Walk to Remember.” You’ll recall sobbing uncontrollably at Jamie and Landon’s tragic love story.
So paired with romantic music by The Roots, Fallon read off a few lines from the show and movie using his best drama acting, like “You have to promise you won’t fall in love with me.”
Moore, after hearing Fallon “perform,” said what everyone was thinking: “I just want an entire hour of this.”
Then she got into a bit of what will be in store for the Pearson family (which we’re all a part of at this point, let’s be real) this season.
“The Jack and Rebecca courtship is what gets explored for the first half of the season,” she said, which will be juxtaposed with how Rebecca is coping immediately after Jack’s death. “So it’s fun; I feel like I get to smile and laugh and enjoy myself. I cried all the tears humanly possible last season.”
Us too, Mandy.
Watch Fallon’s dramatic line-reading and Moore score big on her test.
