Mandy Moore wasn’t always the beautifully tragic widow Rebecca on “This Is Us” -- or the snarky Lana in “The Princess Diaries” or Rapunzel, for that matter. Moore's career began with just her voice, her debut album “So Real” going platinum in ‘99.
Since then, she’s put out five other albums and incorporated her singing into lots of her acting roles: “Stupid Cupid” is an absolute bop and Jamie singing to Landon in “A Walk to Remember” will haunt you. Hell, they even wrote an entire conflict around Rebecca’s singing career into “This Is Us.”
Moore’s most recent album, though, came out almost 10 years ago. There’s been a mystery seventh album supposedly “in the works” since 2012, so what gives, Moore?
Well, Emmy noms, apparently.
While “This Is Us” has been a huge contender for the awards since its start -- scoring 11 nominations last year and another eight this year -- Moore has yet to be tapped for a nom for her role as Rebecca. But no worries, guys! Seems like Moore is onto other things: that elusive seventh album.
The singer-songwriter-actress gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek into what seems to be finally coming together.
“Getting back to it. It’s time. I miss it. I’m not scared anymore. No more excuses,” she wrote.
Moore’s early-2000s music seemed to get lost in the mix of other (better, SORRY) artists and singles, but now that she’s harnessed even more notoriety for herself, I’ve got high hopes for this album.
