When Kaitlyn Curran ran her first New York City Marathon over the weekend, she had no idea that she would be leaving the race 26.2 miles later with a medal and an engagement ring. But that she did when Dennis Galvin, her boyfriend of four years, hopped the fence when she stopped to say hi to her family at mile 16, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
"People in the race were slowing down to take pictures. It was indescribable just to be there and see it all was amazing," Galvin's cousin Kathleen told CBS News.
"She cried a little bit, said yes, hugged him and then said 'OK, I have to go finish my race,'" she recalled.
This is adorable, sure, but the internet is a tad up in arms over the timing of said proposal. I get trying to be romantic, but proposing to her when she's in the middle of a race? And during the NYC Marathon at that? Homegirl has been running for ages and now can't even properly celebrate her engagement because she has 10 more miles to go.
